2021 Outlook & Investment Strategy Update

2020 Hindsight

In my 29 years of giving investment advice, I believe that the U.S. stock market in 2020 experienced one of the most volatile years ever. The year began where 2019 left off…stocks moving higher.  Then beginning in February the S&P 500 fell 34% in 21 trading days, bottoming on March 23*.  It then rocketed higher in the ensuing months, to end the year at all-time highs with the S&P 500 positive 18.24% for the year, including dividends**.  I am fascinated how the stock market recovered with such vigor and in awe of how our portfolios participated in the recovery.  What a job Merit Financial Group, our investment partners, did navigating such an unprecedented event.

With 2020 “in the books,” we look forward to a new year, hopeful that the worst is behind us with Covid, and that life can get back to some semblance of normalcy (whatever that is now!).  Click here to view  Merit’s 2021 outlook meant to provide their thoughts regarding the investment climate we will likely face.  Should the presentation generate any questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to us.  We strive to create calm and confidence with wise counsel and a thoughtful approach to asset management.  Thank you for allowing the entire Consilium Financial Group team to serve you.
